Friends of Extension Foundation

Friends of Extension & 4-H in Douglas/Sarpy County Foundation supports and enhances the University of Nebraska Extension and 4-H programs in Douglas and Sarpy counties. 

The Extension and 4-H programs in Douglas and Sarpy counties offer several educational and development opportunities in a wide variety of areas of interest to youth and adults in both urban and rural communities. We are proud of what these valuable organizations do for our community, and support the efforts of Extension and 4-H through our advocacy, grants, and development.


History of Douglas County Fair
  • Late 1800's to 1980's held in Waterloo at Fairgrounds
  • 1980's moved to AKSARBEN Grounds
  • 2003 combined with River City Roundup
    • CentryLink Center in September Funded with 262 Funds
    • Ran by AKSARBEN for Douglas County
  • 2016
    • Parties separate per the Agreement.
    • Fair held at the crossroads in July and HS Rodeo in October
    • Scathing Audit Report post Fair by Douglas Co. Auditor
  • 2017
    • One Day Fair Held at Chance Ridge and Rodeo in Oct.
  • Agriculture Education
